Waitaki Valley fruit fermented with 15% in seasoned oak to 12.5% alc. and 7.74 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. Bright, pale straw colour with light lemony hues, pale on rim. This has a very fresh, bright and lively nose of white stonefruits with lifted exotic florals, fermentation esters and subtle nuances of honeysuckle. The aromatics show good depth and intensity, unfolding an array of florals and spice hints. Off-dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the fruit flavours of white stonefruits, florals and honey are gently sweet and succulent, and show with real vitality and energy. The mouthfeel is refreshingly brisk and lively, revealing spice and musk elements, and grows in richness with a smooth, near-unctuous flow. The wine carries to a fresh finish with steely, minerally elements. This is a crisp, refreshing and lively, aromatic, dryish Pinot Gris with exotic floral, spice and honied notes. Match with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese fare over the next 3-4 years.
