Hand-picked fruit barrel-fermented to 14.8% alc., the wine aged 22 months in seasoned French oak on lees. Full, deep, bright, light golden yellow colour, lighter on rim. This has a full, broad and rich nose of tropical fruit, pineapples and citrus fruit melded with butter, toast and coconutty oak, lifted by some volatility. Dry and full-bodied, rich and luscious tropical fruit flavours are interwoven with butter and coconutty oak forming a dense and boldly flavoured palate. The acidity is soft, enhancing the roundness of the mouthfeel. Alcoholic power drives the wine, with some heat and spirit notes showing, and the flavours are carried to a long, lifted, dry finish with citrus, butter and oaky notes. This is a very traditional Chardonnay with bold tropical fruit and coconutty oak flavours. Serve with roast pork and rich white meat dishes over the next 4+ years.
