Fruit from the ‘Lyndor’ vineyard, east of Masterton, vines planted in 1986. Approx. 52% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Cabernet Franc, aged 15 months in French oak. Dark deep ruby-red with purple hues to the colour, this has a fresh, youthful, concentrated and intense nose of ripe dark berry fruits, cassis and red currants, along with spice notes, all showing a lovely purity and aromatic lift. Full-bodied at 13.5% alc., the palate echoes the bouquet with its excellent fruit expression. Excellent tobacco, earth, game and cedar complexities are evident. Fine tannin extraction has resulted in refined textures, and the palate is vibrant from good acidity. Serve with roasted red meat dishes over the next 7-9 years.
