Orange wine refers to an ancient style of winemaking dating back thousands of years and originating mainly in Eurasia. These wines take their name from the orange colour that is extracted during fermentation when white wine varieties are macerated / fermented with their skins.
'Skin on Skin' is our interpretation of Orange winemaking.
Delicious notes of dried apricot, quince, poached pear together with spice and caramel notes. A full bodied wine with toasty oak, notes of fig and almond, and a long and concentrated finish. Closure with cork to enable a more natural development and ageing process.
This wine is a blend of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris grapes. Hand harvested from our Estate Vineyard. Lightly crushed using traditional foot power, basket pressed after fermentation, aged for an additional 24 months in French oak barrels on full solids. During the ageing process the wine gradually softens and gains complexity. No fining was used and minimal filtration to retain the natural texture and characters of the wine. Grown, produced and bottled at our family vineyard and winery.
Only 600 bottles produced.
